Tahiti a South Pacific Island

"Trip to Paradise"

(Cruising onboard the Wind Song by Jacquelyn Michelson)

Several years ago I had the opportunity to take a trip to Tahiti via a

sailing vessel called the Wind Song. The moment I climbed aboard the Wind

Song I knew I was about to have a unique experience, one that would not soon

be forgotten.

I traveled with a great group of people. We flew out of Phoenix with the destination of Papettee. Although the journey was a long one, we kept busy by visiting, eating and sleeping. The long flight became worth it when we stepped foot onto our luxury vessel, the Wind Song. The ship had 75 staterooms, all the same size. It accommodates 150 passengers. Although that seems small by cruise standards these days, it provided the perfect backdrop for the intimate setting our group was to enjoy. The nightlife is limited, so if a more active cruise is what you are looking for, perhaps this ship is not for you. However, the food is marvelous and the dress is California casual: a real perk for those of you who don’t like dressing formally.

Sailing to a new island each day provides an endless array of opportunities

such as water sports, or

exploring the island by foot, or by renting a moped. Or, if you’re still in the

mood to relax, head to the nearest bar and enjoy your favorite tropical drink.

Because the Wind Song is a smaller ship, it takes you extremely close to

each port of call. It offers the very best and most reasonable way to see

the islands. As you know, this area is very expensive, so it is nice to know

that you may always retire to the luxury of your stateroom.

I think this would be an ideal trip for the Judson Alumni. It is a wonderful

set-up, geared toward smaller groups. We had the Arizona Club and the USC

Alumni Groups on our last cruise and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

The weather is superb, the water calm, and Tahiti is the perfect vacation

spot for rest and relaxation. It is also great for those who want a bit

more, offering many day trips to suit everyone’s desires.

There are other things about Tahiti that are appealing. Going to some of the sites found on

the internet make it clear that this is built for cruising of all sorts. http://www.tropicalislandvacation.com/tahiticruise.html for cuises in Tahiti.. aboard ship is another thing. Here you see the big international cruise ship with sails. Or perhaps we should make it on an even smaller charter.

You can see some of the French influence at this site. http://www.tahiti-tourisme.com/en/_infos_heberg-croisiere2.html

And of course a search on Tahiti http://search.msn.com/results.asp?RS=CHECKED&FORM=MSNH&v=1&q=tahiti%2Bwind+song will

turn up a lot more. This gives you a lot more to follow up.
